The HPI residency programs are for physicians seeking excellent family medicine training.  These programs graduate well prepared and broadly trained family medicine specialists able to practice excellent medicine and care for patients in a wide variety of settings – especially among the medically underserved.

HPI selectively works in countries that have very poor health statistics, where healthcare is often neglected.  In many of these countries medical school graduates seldom or never have had an opportunity to assume full responsibility for patient care.

HPI residency program leaders are currently addressing the great need for family medicine training in Afghanistan, China, Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Somaliland. Discussions are underway for future programs in locations such as India, Malawi, and Nepal. Physicians in training have direct interaction with patients, treating medical needs on a daily basis, while being supported by high quality faculty.  In the HPI family medicine residency programs, resident physicians receive high quality hands-on training that is changing the present healthcare available to the people in developing countries around the world.
